Our school seeks funding in the amount of $800.00 to purchase and implement the Reads Naturally® literacy intervention program for students in Grades 1-2 who are performing below grade level in reading. This evidence-based program will provide targeted instruction in reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary development through structured, individualized support.
The proposed project will serve approximately 15-25 students per year, with the goal of improving reading proficiency, increasing student confidence, and closing achievement gaps. Funding will support program licensing and instructional materials which meet the state requirement of an alternative program for students needing literacy intervention. By investing in Reads Naturally, we aim to ensure that all students develop the foundational literacy skills necessary for academic success.

This project will provide my 6th grade students with a horseshoe-shaped conferencing desk and Spanish-language copies of three core novels: Percy Jackson y los dioses del Olimpo: El ladrón del rayo, Una larga travesía hasta el agua, and Esperanza renace. The horseshoe desk will create a dedicated space for small-group instruction, reading conferences, and targeted support, allowing me to work closely with students who need additional guidance.
The Spanish editions of these novels will ensure that our multilingual learners can fully participate in literature studies alongside their peers, strengthening comprehension, engagement, and confidence. Together, these resources will help create an inclusive classroom where every student has access to meaningful texts and individualized support.
