Empowering Our Readers: Engaging Book Sets for Classroom Literature Circles

Angie Kilker - Lake Ridge Elementary School, Nampa

$781.00

The best part of my job is to instill the love of reading in my students. One way to do this is to provide shared reading experiences. This project aims to enhance literacy and foster a love for reading among 2nd graders by providing access to a variety of engaging book sets to be used in the classroom for guided literature circles. By incorporating high-quality literature into the curriculum, we will support students' reading development, comprehension skills, critical thinking skills and collaboration among peers.

Attaining books sets at a variety of levels helps even our most reluctant readers feel confident and successful. Differentiated book sets provide texts that match students' individual reading levels, making it easier for them to access and understand the material. This reduces frustration and promotes a sense of accomplishment.

Introduction into Electronic Circuits

Kilie White - Minico High School, Rupert

$479.84

I would love the opportunity to teach my STEM students the basics of electronic circuits by having them use the Snap Circuit Electronic Boards. STEM focuses on problem solving, critical thinking, and being creative in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. STEM provides an insight to different fields and job opportunities for students after they graduate from high school. Since electronics falls into the category of technology, the Snap Circuit Electronic Boards would provide the students with an exciting and engaging introduction into electronics. This project will allow students hands-on experience of electronics and how electronic circuits work as well as possible job opportunities with electronics.

Enhancing Literacy for English Language Learners Through Spanish Library Resources

Stacie Pollard - Glenns Ferry Elementary School, Glenns Ferry

$750.00

Our school district serves a diverse student population, including many English Language Learners (ELLs). Many of these students are native Spanish speakers who benefit from dual-language resources to develop literacy skills in both their first language and English.

Currently, our school libraries have a limited selection of Spanish books, which hinders our ability to support these students effectively. Research shows that access to books in students' native languages enhances overall literacy, boosts confidence, and supports academic success. We are seeking funding to expand both our Elementary, Middle School, and High School library's Spanish book collection to better serve our ELL population.
